No more taipei, we are going south instead to Bali. No more nice food and hot spring, but we get the sandy white beach instead. It's still a vaccation, only with a cheaper price to pay.
That's life. You gain something from what you lose. Who says the compensation is not gonna be as nice?
I have had enough of city life. Pollution, heavy traffic, sauna-like weather, distrations that prompt you to spend more and yadda yadda yadda. Well maybe the last bit is not soley to blame. It's a result of my weakening willpower and self control. Who spend rm100 on dinner a day with just a rm1000 income each month anyway? lol.
2 months into the working life with 1 more month to go, I realised working isn't as bad as we thought. At least you get the money and exposure. What I didn't see it coming is how suffocating a cubicle can be, and how stressful it is to have nothing to work on but just counting down to 5pm everyday. The desire to go offshore is growing each day.Good on me.
I love my colleagues nevertheless. They are fun. They are playful. More importantly, they are corrupted, brain wise. It's just comforting how simple their choice of words is. Simple yet funny. Isn't that great? I seriously need to cut down on my use of sarcasm. The worst part is, I don't even realise I am being sarcastic most of the the time. Talking about detaching oneself from sarcasm. It's proven to be harder than weening off the drugs.
Back to expenses. Watching 2 movies a week, eating out 5 days a week, driving around as if the car is air-operated seriously got me thinking how much I would have to earn in the future in order to sustain myself. lol. Not to mention getting a 6 thousand watch.
My faith wiggles a little. How I tell my mum I can't live poor and hence the choice of profession just got me wonder if it's really sufficient. hahaha. You know desire and greed never stop growing.
So much of introspection.
I am still going to Bali anyway. lol. Spend all your money before 2012. You wouldnt wanna see your money going down the drain would you?

5 things I wanna do right now
I am bored!!!!!!!!! It's not difficult to notice from my frequent updates. Once every two days? Ok it's quite a record for lazy people like me who selectively forgot the password to my blog. My point is, the fact that I blog so frequently lately really tells you what office job is like. So people, stay away from it as much as possible.
Stuck in the office doing repititive work with some free time slipped in between reading "The Sun", "The Star" and countless food blogs, my subconscious mind started to make a list of things that both my physical and mental mind want to do.
1. A massage. I mean a proper massage! don't you pick on my words! Ok maybe a passioanate massage isn't as bad as I ( or everyone else?) thought. *slap slap*
2. Kissing my pillow. As much as I am an insomaniac, I would like to kiss my pillow 24/7. Too bad it's too big to bring into the office and it might just outsize my cubicle. lol.
3. Go to Genting. FOR THE CHILLY WEATHER NOT THE CASINO! Wait why am I trying to so hard to explain here? lol. But KL is just way too hot for me. :(
4. Sitting in front of the tv and watch all I want with bottomless strawberry and blueberry within reach.
5. Walking to the pantry and stop by the cubicle in front of it and say "hi I am Shane. Would you like to go on a date with me?". lolllllllllllllllll.

Taipei and the pink gloves
Office job is suffocating. It's made even worse when your job is reptitive. CTRL-c and CTRL-v from 8am-5pm bore the shit outta me. Ok maybe it's not that bad with me making multiple visits to the pantry. *wink wink*
I was on the phone with my mum just to tell her that I am going to Taiwan during CNY.
"hey ma, I am going to taiwan in Feb" I said and tried not to go into too much details.
"When? and whom with?" She asked. Ok as a matter of fact, she has been a bit too concerned over whom I go out with lately.
"with my friends. on the 18th of feb tentatively" I said.
"who? how many of you are going?" She asked again.
"alright alright....bla bla bla" I gave in.
"You pay for your own flight?" I sensed the firmness in her tone hinting she isn't kind enough to pay for my flight.
"yeah!" Reluctantly, I said. Alright alright I am desperate. I am sure I can talk her into paying a portion of it afterwards. Evil me. Worse comes to worse I will advance early payment for my pocket money. lol.
Taiwan here I come!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Overheard a kid talking today and it cracked me up, even till now.
"Did you see my gloves? they are pink and shaped like my hands."
Aren't kids just cute with their innocent talk?

On the phone with the nephew
So my mum called me when I was at lunch. Definitely took me by surprise as she usually takes her nap during that time. I picked up the phone with a thousand questions in my head.
"hello" I greeted.
"hey hold on!" my mum said even before I could say anything.
After a few seconds, someone apparently picked up the phone and spoke through the mouthpiece.
I couldn't hear anything. It could be due to the poor coverage so I begged his/her pardon.
"hello" I said again, feeling much puzzled.
"ehh ahhahh ehhhh yiii ahhh hahahahahahaha" that's all I could hear. Judging from the crystal clear voice I know it's Bryvan, my two-year-old nephew.
And also the inability to speak a proper word. lol.
"hey hey bryvan!!!!!" Sounding all excited, I was waiting to be surprised.
"ah! yi yayayay ooo ka!" Apparently I couldnt understand a word he said. I laughed so hard at the baby language I swear everyone around me must have thought I am a psycho.
"where are you?" I asked and realised a second later that I would never get an answer. Yet still looking forward to hearing what he had to say.
"aa, yiiii yaaaaaa!" He replied which I deciphered as tangkak.
Whatever.
I found out much later from my mum that he still couldn't say papa mama.
Are you kidding me? he is 2 years old already.
Well who am I to judge anyway? Someone who only started saying words that made sense at the age of 2.5 whose parents were so worried they asked the doctor if he was a mute. hahaha.
Who would ever have thought that he is so babbly 20 years later!
It's only after I hung up I realised how much I have missed him. Just listened to him made my day. Even though nothing he said make sense.
Kids bring happiness.
Can I bring him with me to Sydney? I promise I will get him breastfed.lol. Or I will just get him a goat.

Multitask
Driving in KL is a nightmare. Especially when you choose the wrong time to go on the road.
7.20am: The brake is just an accessory.
7.25am: You have at least some people to check out, but only limit to 1 second each person to stay off accident.
7.30am: Blame the snooze function on my alarm clock. If you think 5 mins is a luxury in bed, it is a horrendous nightmare on the road. It is jam-packed with cars where you can practically eat fruits, read a novel and check out the driver in each passing car (can say hi somemore).
As a result, I am late for work. It has been the 4th times in a row. *shy*
Being stuck in the jam is stressfull. My way of dealing with this is by eating fruits. :P. De-stress on one side, keeping fit and healthy is a tempting bonus.

Stillness
"girl, you should probably shut down your blog!" yering said, still stubbornly called me girl and to my own surprise, I am kinda used to it already.
"does it offend you in any way?" I then said with grin, so sly i swear she would hit me with anything in hand.
"errr...hehehhee" Giving me the usual silly smile.
Lunch at KLCC. me in formal attire and her in casual T and shorts, no longer the casual high school friends.
Different look, different age, different perspective. But the same silliness, same lameness that we are never bored of.
More importantly, the same way of marking important notes. still the highlighter supplier. The whole book is highlighted, only with different colors.

#28 Library
Sorry, I know my project has failed miserably. :(. How consistent I have been.
Well, what were the reasons contributed to the failure?
Plain laziness?? hmm I couldn't deny it.
Exams? Of course exam is one of them. I have been camping in the library as a matter of fact.
"you and library?? omg, i just can't link you and library together!" one of my friends said.
yeh people change. So did I. but frankly speaking, I love the bean bags in the library more than anything.

The bean bag just made it so comfy an environment to study. :)

#27 Exams suck
This is the most painful semester from the start of the semester till the end. A big thanks for geology and geophysics!!! Why the hell did they combine it into one subject?? The workloads are just too much. 4 hours of exams in a day with over 10 questions with each question at least 2 pages long. How the hell am I supposed to remember so much??
Time is dwindling and I seriously need another brain to store all the information. Is anyone kind enough to offer me another brain?? I promise I will return it in one piece right after the exam with all the geological and geophysical data deleted! Guess you wouldn't want to have anything to do with it. :)
I have realized that with us getting older each year, our ability to memorize stuff seems to be going downhill. Is it true that I am really getting older with a small and rusty???

ok seriously if I ever become that geology-minded, pls kill me on the spot!

#26 Desserts
What's the first thing that comes to your mind when someone says desserts?
Ice cream? Chocolate? Waffle?
For me, those are never my favorite. You might ask "how can you not like ice cream and chocolate?" well I just don't. and for a change, I prefer fruits. I personally like all sorts of fruits except durians!! If there is one thing I can ban people from eating it'd be durians. oh wait, maybe durians come after peanuts. lol.
Everyday after dinner and before bed time, I would sit down and enjoy my daily favorite meal of the day -- which I call the dessert platter. It's not as costly as seafood platter, not as expensive and fattening as ice cream platter, but it's as delicious as any of them. At least to me.
I am a big fan of fruits. Only one kind of fruits a day isn't gonna satisfy my insatiable needs for them. So I will take at least 3 different types of fruits each day, naming apple, grapes and strawberries. :). Sometimes 4 if I have a banana for breakfast. wow, I should buy an orchard! that will probably save me a lot of money in the long run.

But to be honest, I feel so fresh and happy and relaxed after eating those fruits everyday. Not to exaggerate it but those little fruits do really make my days sometimes, if not everytime.

#25 Shades
I need a pair of shades to help overlook things that are too painful to look at.
I need a pair shades to help hide the fear that people can easily see through my eyes.
I need a pair of shades so that the people that cherish me will take it off me when they are ready to show me the path that's leading us down.
I need a pair of shades so that I can help boost the economics and get away from recession and spend as much as I wish.
I need a pair of shades so that people wouldn't recognize me if I misbehave.

However, this is not the pair of shades I want.

#24 Breakfast by the beach
Had a nice breakfast this morning by the beach in Wollongong. A famous restaurant which according to chea hao is well reputable even on the internet. Well, I am not much of a fussy eater myself so yeh I am ok with anything.

Standing there staring at the menu board for a good 5 mins deciding on whether to order a burger or fish n chips only to be told that they only served breakfast at that hour. How embarassing. We ended up having breakfast plate which consists of bacon, tomato, eggs and baby spinach.

It's a good experience to have a nice meal by the beach. The sea breeze and the warmth from the sunshine just chase the blues away. It is also an effective way to de-stress when you have so much pressure weighing down on your shoulder.

One will never know whats better out there if one never steps out of the shelter. Holding on to something that's expired isn't gonna get you anywhere but just a waste of time.

#23 Nan Tien Temple
This is my second visit to Nan Tien Temple, the biggest Buddhist Temple in Australia. Having stayed in Wollongong and not going to Nan Tien Temple is a crime itself hence I made time today to go there with Chea Hao for lunch. Yeh all the way to the temple for lunch, but the vegetarian food there made it worthwhile.

Ok I know it's time to study and go to school. I am ready :)

Cheahao posing in front of the main entrance.

A peek at my lunch of the day. My fav would be the egg plant with capsicum and mushroom on the top. Nice combination.

My attempt to interfere in their conversation.
So, my hair is still intact. I didn't have the impulsive desire to shave my head and become a monk today. However there's a hostel kinda place for visitors and I might come again to stay for a night next time.

#22 Wollongong
So there I go, to a city on the south of Sydney. A dead city but with a lively soul which is of course my high school mate Chea Hao.
Needed a break so I decided to get onboard a train and traveled for 1.5 hours to get to this town. Despite being colder and more quite than Sydney, at least the silence isn't deafening and the freezing weather isn't miserable.

It's always nice to see a familiar face, especially during the time when you think you are too vulnerable to see strangers around.

#21 Beaches
Went for a walk along the beach this morning. It was cold out there but the sun was giving a little of its warmth to everyone. It might not be as warm as a heater but at least it did help. Sometimes we should be contented with what we got and not asking for too much. The higher the expectations, the bigger the disappointment.

Exams are coming, really soon, but I am not being productive with my revisions. Someone please help me! Oh by the way, anyone here knows how to knit? lol.

#20 Study Vacation
oh yeh, I am finally in the mood to start my revision. Even though it's not very productive it's marked the start of my revision journey. :). Started with Microeconomics as it'll be the first paper which is scheduled on the 17th.

It's cold and so nice to sleep in. My bed keeps beckoning me and of course I couldn't resist the temptation. Pls move my bed outta of my room and return it to me when I am done revising.

#19 Super Star
Just a few hours ago, I was with a friend of mine Michael at this super star singing contest which was held at my uni. Thinking that I had nothing to do at home made the idea of watching the contest even more tempting and there I was, watching 15 contestants competed with each other.
The big contrast in the skills of the contestants made the competition a bit boring after the good ones had performed. Well that's not the point I am trying to bring up, but the fact that someone unexpected be crowned the champion made me feel like throwing rotten eggs at him and the organizer. Omg!!! He is not even good!!! and his falsetto is at stake and I wouldn't be this mad if he is good looking but guess what, I am just speechless now.

Sorry for the crappy picture. But yeh, it really makes me wonder, what is it that they really want from a contestant?
On the other hand, I couldn't believe I didn't even have 2 dollars left in my wallet when I was about to catch a bus home. OMG!!!!! I had to call Michael for some money and he had to ask his friend to come back to uni to give me the money. Just for that 2 dollars!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Poor me :(. btw, thank you very much Michael. :)

#16 Monopoly collection
People who know me well must have known that I am a big fan of Monopoly. Well not just playing with them but also to collect them. :).
yeh I know it's such an expensive hobby.
So I added one more item to my collections- The World Edition. :). It's not the electronic version with credit cards instead of notes but to be honest I actually prefer the old version which uses cash notes to trade. That's the version which we have been playing with since childhood isn't it?

So now you know what kinda present you can get me. :)

#15 Salsa
Yeh i just came back from my last lesson of Salsa and I felt great. Feeling great not in terms of I am qualified as a professional salsa dancer because I still am not, but because I got to do something meaningful on a Tuesday night. I need to get my life back, been losing it for the past few weeks and no I am not gonna let anyone get it my way anymore. :)
There is this pretty lady (well she is really pretty) who popped me a question when I was dancing with her just now.
"do you mind if I ask how old are you?" She asked, feeling a bit intrusive but I am not surprised at all.
"21. haha too young? hahaha." I said half jokingly.
"wow, 21. I never thought I would see such young people in this class!" She said, with a smile on her face.
"now you do! hehehe" i said and then we both laughed.
It somehow feels nice to be the youngest among all the students in the class. The average age of the class is around 26 I reckon and it's always nice to mingle around with peopel older than you because you get to learn a lot of things from them. :). Say goodbye to gullibility :).

Anyway despite being the youngest, I also feel so vertically challenged when I dance with all the girls in the class. Omg, I am merely their shoulder height sometimes. how embarassing!!!! but well it's the skill not the height we are looking at ok!!!!! :)
