the flood

as you all are informed, through electronic media or from other people's mouth, the southern part of Malaysia were flooded, every cars had become boat since then, perodua Kancil has become kayak, proton wira has become banana boat, toyota altis turned out to be speed boat and finally the Estima became star cruise~~~

this is a picture grabbed by a friend in tangkak..observe the picture carefully, you will notice that the wheels of the car has no longer be seen..though the water level is considered as low compared to other part of johor..

so, let me introduce to you my hometown (so bad of me, now only i intend to introduce when it is flooded, sigh)..its name is Tangkak, of which i heard my grandma saying that the name is gotten from the malay word "tangkap". she said that in old days, there were alot of mice strolling along the street of tangkak, BRAVO!!!! and then by chance or otherwise, the name "tangkak" has been evolved from the word "tangkap tikus"..well, it sounds pretty true, but i doubt it..LEGEND~~~

next, the location..it's situated on the boudaries of melaka and johor..so, it takes me 20 mins at most to go melaka from my house..the famous landmarks here is "gunung ledang"..i am sure all of you must have heard of "gunung ledang", from the well-known movie "puteri gunung ledang". frankly speaking, i m not interested at all in the movie, so dun ask me how was it, if you wana know eagerly, i can demonstrate a live show--"putera gunung ledang", yes i am, the GREAT PUTERA GUNUNG LEDANG...furthermore, there is a waterfall here, the scene is breathtaking(not really actually), and the water is clean (not really too, but it is always cleaner than every other waterfall in malaysia).
so, this is the real picture of gunung ledang waterfall..this is the highest part of the waterfall, which is the only place i will go everytime i have been to the waterfall. however, it takes 20 mins to climb uphill and is very very tiring..worth it afterall..

Gunung leadang

next, the life in tangkak is boring, no shopping complex for you to kill your time, there are only these so called "supermarket" which sells grocery and clothes and so on. however dun look down on it, it is a three-floored supermarket, equipped with a great range of items..similar to other rural area(actually tangkak shouldn't be categorized as rural town, but a developing town), there are plenty of mamak stalls here, the real mamak STALL, not like those in kl which are actually shoplot-business..well, i will snap some picture down when i get my camera..

next, tangkak is full of "loansharks", yeah, we call them "dai yi long" or "ah long"..loansharks always give people the impression that they are fashioned in an olden ways, bully people and scribble ppl's houses if the debt is not settled..you all got it wrong for all these while..the loadsharks here are extremely rich, their houses are spacious, cozy and magnificent, they always change their cars (update their car to be exact)..u can always see the latest BMW or whatever expensive cars here once they are launched..and most importantly, they dun kill people, or either murder people.actually those people who borrow money from them are not being killed, but they commit suicide knowing that they couldn't settle their debt. the loansharks here somehow do a lot of charity, they do it generously, perhaps to ease their conscience. they won't hesitate to give out money when there is donation for education..and the growing number of loansharks marks a significant effect, the students here (primary school students) will somehow aspire to be loanshark and fill up their ambition column with "ah long", that obviously isn't a good sign..

tangkak is famous of cloth which malays use it to tailor their baju kurung..the week or two before hair raya aidilfitri, u can see plenty of buses park at the bus station, and go on to the main street, u will see throngs of people in the cloth shops along the main street..i think there are at least 10 shop which sells cloth along the street..as we know, chinese are rarely buying cloth to make their cloth, they buy the clothings in shopping complex..but that is not the case for malays, they prefer to buy cloth, of different embroidery, colors, and pattern, as baju kurung emphasizes on colourful appearance..anyway, to tell the truth, i have never stepped into those cloth shop, what for i go there?takkan i want to make myself a baju kebaya?

next, the cuisine..i m weary eating the food here since they have been my "food" for almost 18 years..beef noodle and wantan mee are among the drooling food i would recommend to you here..they are of handmade mee, unlike those in kl which are made by machine, that explains why the mee in kl are not soft..so, have a good try here if u pass by tangkak..the scent and the taste of the food will stay forever in ur mind..
